Hyundai India reports 42 percent increase in January sales

Hyundai Motor Company, the second largest car producer in India and the fourth largest automaker in the world, announced it has produced and sold 52.635 new vehicles in India during the first month of 2010.

Compared to last year's figures, Hyundai's January sales have increased 42 percent to more than 50.000 units. At the same time a year earlier, Hyundai sold 37.171 vehicles in India.

Among all new vehicles, produced by Hyundai in January, 29.601 units were sold to domestic consumers, while 23.034 units were exported to international markets, including Europe, Middle East, Australia and other.

With sales of more than 47.000 units, Hyundai i20, i10 and Santro hatch were the most popular Hyundai models in the range. The second best selling model was Hyundai Accent with sales of more than 5.000 units.

Arvind Saxena, Marketing and Sales director at Hyundai Motor India, said that Hyundai started the year on a right note. He also believes the momentum will continue through the year with the help of the stimulus package offered by the Indian government.
