Next Kia Forte to be based on Elantra

Kia releases first official sketches of its all-new Kia Forte, a compact sedan built on the same platform as Hyundai's popular Elantra sedan.

The South Korean second largest carmaker today released two design illustrations of its third-generation Forte sedan, which will be sold as a Kia K3 in the South Korean market.


Scheduled to go on sale in South Korea in the fourth qurter of the year, the all-new 2014 Kia Forte will feature a completely redesigned exterior and interior layouts.

As evident from the rendering images released today, the new Forte will sport the famous "tiger" nose with prominent signature grille, large headlamps with LED technology and low side profile line and large rear taillights.

Additionally, the Elantra-based Kia Forte will also feature chrome trim around the windows and fog lamps.

U.S. Kia Forte release date?

Kia has yet to release further details about the vehicle's U.S. debut, but you can expect a full-production model to debut either at the 2012 L.A. Auto Show in November or at the 2013 NAIAS.
